A space to leave my thoughts, inspirations and adventures.

Nylite Project DIY- Chenessa Lam, Style Empire

I had the chance to use my Nylites as a canvas for creativity. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a colourphobe when it comes to clothing, but ever so often, you’ll see me sporting colour through my accessories. I was torn between dip-dying my Nylites or bedazzling them. Four hours and eight bottles of nail polish later (not to mention a ton of dead brain cells), here are my Nylites and this is how I rocked them!

i’m Watch – The world’s first real smartwatch

“Slick, thin and ergonomic, i’m Watch is made to be part of you. And it’s always with you by all means: phone, web, music, radio, organizer, photo, video, and whatever App you may come up with. Born for multi-tasking exploit, i’m Watch is so fast and simple to use that everything else will be left behind, likely on your car backseat.”

Nuit Blanche 2011

Nuit Blanche. Many critics say it’s a night of bad art - but in my opinion, they just haven’t found the good art. Some of my favourite exhibits from the night include: the Art of Fashion design competition, a clown sculpture made of balloons outside of The Drake Hotel, a burlesque show and art show at The Gladstone Hotel and a re-enactment of the 1980 Wimbledon finals between Björn Borg and John McEnroe (complete with 80’s hair and tennis outfits a.k.a. short shorts).

Art of Fashion

Some of the stylings from last night’s Art of Fashion, including a design competition and trunk show.

What happens when you combine Top Models, Justin Wu and Jay-Z’s webzine Life + Times together? You get an Empire State of Mind, of course.

One can easily lose themselves in TIFF’s glamour and glitz. There are so many celebrities out and about and so many gorgeous fashions.
Swarovski is the epitome of glitz. I had the pleasure of visiting their Swarovski Fashion Suite at the Four Seasons in Yorkville, where they showcased an ultra limited edition line, Wings of Fantasy FW11/12 Catwalk Collection. This is the first time this collection has entered Canada and it is on display exclusively during the festival, and unfortunately (or fortunately, for our wallet’s sake) is not available for sale. It was created to act as the couture inspiration behind the Fall/Winter ready to wear collection, Wings of Fantasy.

Drawing inspiration from the The Black Swan, these couture creations are Swarovski’s interpretation of two extremes of the stage artist: the quiet, sometimes superstitious behind the scenes persona and the elegant, spectacular on stage presence. Each one-of-a-kind piece is carefully hand-crafted and show-stopping.

Each piece takes hundreds of man hours to complete and you can see the fine details and craftsmanship. After their appearance at TIFF, they’re going back to Paris. I found myself inspired and breath taken because each piece is a stunning work of art. Swarovski has so many pieces that are jaw-droppingly-gorgeous, these are definitely no exception.

There are dozens of gifting lounges in Toronto but the IT Lounge is a must-hit spot. I had the chance to pop by and check it out - I can see why the celebs are taking a break to make an appearance.
Upon entering, you’re welcomed with a candy bar and some jet fuel (a.k.a. SKYY Vodka cocktails). After you’re pumped and ready to go, you tour the many fabulous vendors…I lost myself somewhere between the Goody Hair photobooth (as you can see from the pic above) and the Baker Street cakes, which I didn’t get a picture of because I ate it all.
Here’s a look at a few of the celebs who popped by the lounge.

Jean Marc Genereux and Blake McGrath, judges on So You Think You Can Dance Canada, treat their sweet tooth with a few Baker Street delights.
